As a former Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Rees prosecuted hundreds of serious federal felony cases ranging from major drug trafficking to investigations involving international alien smuggling rings and murder-for-hire schemes. His work as a former prosecutor has proven invaluable in how to negotiate with other prosecutors and to succeed against them at trial. It is with this experience that Mr. Rees aggressively defends his clients in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Rees began his career clerking for a federal judge in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked on numerous criminal cases ranging from bank robberies to securities fraud. After leaving his clerkship, he was appointed by former Attorney General Janet Reno as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of California in San Diego. During his time as an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Rees represented the United States in hundreds of criminal cases. Mr. Rees left the U.S. Attorney's Office to join the prestigious law firm of Baker & McKenzie and was a part of the white collar criminal defense practice group where he represented targets and subjects of federal grand jury investigations.
Mr. Rees started his own practice so he could devote himself exclusively to criminal defense work. He handles most criminal cases and approaches each and every case with one basic principal in mind: "each client deserves the best and most aggressive defense possible."
